Ando

Also known as: Ando messaging, agent-native team chat

A team messaging app built from scratch for humans and AI agents to work together. Agents join channels, receive assignments, and contribute proactively, just like human teammates, instead of being bolted on via integrations.

Most team chat apps treat AI as an add-on: you summon a bot with a slash command, it replies, and then it disappears. Ando is designed around a different premise. Agents in Ando have persistent identities, inboxes, and permissions. They follow channels, pick up context across threads, and can speak up without being tagged every time.

The company launched from stealth in September 2026 with a $20 million seed round from Accel, Index Ventures, and Emergence Capital. Founder Sara Du's argument is that retrofitting agent support onto Slack or Microsoft Teams forces teams to work around legacy scaffolding, while starting fresh lets the product design around what agents can actually do: notice patterns across conversations, hold context over time, and act on it proactively.

Ando is agent-agnostic, meaning teams bring whatever agents they already use (Claude, Codex, Grokbot, Devin, and others) rather than committing to a single provider. The product is in early access for teams of up to 30 humans plus their agents, with broader availability expected later in 2026. It represents a new category sometimes called agent-native communication.
