Claude Duet

Also known as: Duet, Anthropic Duet

Anthropic's standalone app where Claude acts as a proactive agent: it monitors your connected apps, sends a morning brief, and keeps working on tasks in the background while you're away, checking in before it acts on your behalf.

Claude Duet, launched in research preview on October 21, 2026, is a different kind of AI product. Most AI tools wait for you to ask something. Duet flips that: every morning it sends you a short rundown of what matters across your connected apps, keeps an eye on those apps through the day, and only surfaces things that actually need your attention. You can also hand it tasks, from scheduling a meeting to building a dashboard or drafting a financial forecast, and it finishes them in the cloud even after you close your phone.

It runs on Claude Opus 5.5 inside a virtual machine, carries over your existing memory and connected apps from your Claude account, and requires approval before it does anything sensitive: sending a message, making a payment, signing a document, or deleting data. That approval gate is central to how Anthropic positioned it, since an agent that acts without asking can cause real damage. Auto mode, which relaxes those checks for routine tasks, is rolling out to paid plans shortly after launch.

Duet is aimed at professionals and small business owners who have more on their plates than they can keep track of manually. It is available on iOS, Android, and claude.ai, initially behind a waitlist for US Pro and Max subscribers. It competes directly with OpenAI Dots and Meta Muse in the emerging category of proactive personal AI agents.
