Pika
Also known as: Pika Labs, Pika AI, Pika 2.5
Pika Labs raised $135 million by June 2024 and has positioned their product squarely at creative social content rather than cinematic production. The Pika 2.5 model (current as of mid-2026) supports text-to-video, image-to-video, and video editing, but what makes it distinctive is the Pika Powers effects suite: Pikaffects for visual physics effects, Pikaswaps for swapping elements in existing video, Pikadditions for inserting characters or objects into footage, and Pikaframes for first-and-last-frame control over transitions.
Pikaformance (lip-sync from a static image to audio) is another standout: you give it a portrait photo and an audio clip, and it produces a talking-head video with synced lips, eyes, and expression. This is the fastest path to a talking avatar for demos, marketing content, or social posts. PikaStream, added in 2026, enables real-time video streaming for agent-based applications like AI-powered video meeting participants.
Pika isn't the highest-fidelity option for cinematic work; Runway, Veo, and Kling tend to win on pure output quality. But it's consistently the most beginner-friendly and the most fun for quick social iteration. The free plan is generous relative to competitors, and paid plans start at $8 per month. For builders prototyping video-powered features in a product, Pika's API is straightforward to integrate.
